NV5 is seeking an Associate Civil Engineer to join our San Diego Land Development team, a hub of innovation and expertise that serves a diverse range of public and private clients across Southern California. In this role, you will apply your technical skills to design and deliver high-quality solutions tailored to meet the unique challenges of San Diego's dynamic development landscape. Projects may include residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, as well as infrastructure improvements.
As part of the San Diego team, you'll also engage with local jurisdictions, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to navigate permitting processes and secure project approvals efficiently. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, geotechnical, surveying, and environmental specialists, to ensure seamless project integration and execution.

- Assist the Project Manager in preparing project proposals and cost estimates.
- Build and maintain client relationships through effective communication and collaboration.
- Prepare plans and reports required for the entitlement process, including stormwater reports.
- Develop detailed construction documents for building and grading permits using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality designs that meet client and regulatory standards.
- Interface with multidisciplinary design teams, including civil site design, structural, surveying, and geotechnical engineering teams.
- Manage and mentor junior engineers, interns, or new graduates, fostering their professional growth.
- Actively contribute to a collaborative team environment, ensuring project success.
- Assist clients with local, state, and federal permitting processes.
- Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance and secure necessary approvals.
- Travel to project sites for assessments, client meetings, and presentations as needed.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive civil engineering design experience, preferably in land development projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with stormwater management design, grading, and utility layout.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
The pay range for this California position is $110,000 - $135,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
