Position Summary
The Los Rios Community College District is seeking qualified candidates for this part-time, temporary position. Temporary positions are filled as needed through ongoing recruitment. Applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs.
The Master Tutor provides expert-level academic support in English Writing and all math courses taught at the college level, assisting students in achieving their academic goals. This position is designed for highly skilled and experienced tutors who can lead group tutoring sessions, offer individualized support, and contribute to the development of tutoring strategies and materials. Master Tutors work closely with faculty and the Learning Resource Center Coordinators to ensure effective learning support for students across multiple disciplines.Typical Duties
The temporary position includes the following responsibilities:
- Provides individual and small group tutoring sessions in designated subject areas.
- Assists in the development of tutoring materials and resources to support student learning.
- Conducts assessments of student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with faculty to ensure tutoring sessions align with course objectives.
- Leads or participate in training sessions for new tutors and assist in the professional development of tutoring staff.
- Maintains accurate records of tutoring sessions, student progress, and any necessary reports.
- Assists in evaluating and improving tutoring services offered to students.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
EXPERIENCE: At least one year of tutoring experience.
EDUCATION: An Associate degree or higher, or equivalent, in English, Mathematics, or a closely related field directly relevant to the subject being tutored.
Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.
(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equal to 30 semester units.)
