This is an outstanding opportunity to manage a high-profile organization and lead fundraising efforts for one of the finest non-profit organizations in Los Angeles. CA. Located in Woodland Hills CA, the Valley Cultural Foundation’s free Concerts in the Park was launched in 1975 under the guidance of our first chairwoman, educator Lou Bredlow. Our free concertshave a permanent home at the Lou Bredlow Pavilion in Warner Park, built on land generously donated by the Harry Warner family in 1967.

The Executive Director will be highly collaborative with a focus on community involvement, have experience and expertise in fundraising and share a conviction in the transformative power of music. You will oversee the creation and activation of concerts and programs that generate presence, visibility and support and engage our stakeholders and sponsors.

 

Qualifications

  • Progressive responsibility and experience in the profession or similar professional experience in a nonprofit or other related environment. (Required)
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of fundraising and sponsorship development. (Required)
  • Experience managing an annual budget with accounting skills and reporting.
  • Strong communication skills to express, both verbally and in writing, the mission of the Valley Cultural Foundation for Grants and the fund-raising goals of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with sponsors, office staff, vendors, volunteers and local and state government officials and departments.
  • Knowledge of and relationships within the music arts and cultural communities (especially Los Angeles Department of Park and Recreation) is a strong plus. (Preferred)
  • Strong management and administrative skills to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals and volunteers. (Required)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to oversee the Summer Concert season. Movies in the Park, and other music programs, fundraisers and events.
  • Superior skill in writing effective correspondences, funding proposals for major gifts and creative solicitation materials. (Required)
  • A self-starter able to work independently and without supervision.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as required. Required.

Specific Job Descriptions:

Fundraising

· Corporate and business sponsor solicitation

· Maintain a corporate and business solicitation database

· Grant Writing

· Attend Chamber and Rotary Meetings etc. on a regular basis

· Partner with local and state government to solicit funding

· Special Events – Plans and facilitates all Fundraising Events including:

Food & Wine Event

July 4th Fireworks

Annual Gala or Golden Horn Award Dinner

Other fundraisers

 

Concerts

· Oversee the Concert/Project Coordinator to ensure the Summer Concerts are scheduled,

financed and all bands, contractors and vendors are approved and contracted.

· Must attend all concerts including in the evening and weekends to oversee activities

· Oversees solicitation of donations and schedules board member participation

 

Movies in the Park

· Oversee the Concert/Project Coordinator to ensure the Movies in the Park are scheduled,

financed and all contractors and vendors are approved and contracted.

· Must attend all movies including in the evening and weekends to oversee activities

 

Marketing & Public Relations

· Create internal & external collateral

· Create Membership Advantage Program collateral

· Create and approve all ad campaigns

· Create and distribute all Press Releases

· Attend community meetings as needed, requested, and directed by the council offices.

· Oversee website

· Oversee Facebook activity

· Oversee Twitter activity

· Publish annual program

 

Administrative

· Supervise administrative staff, contractors and vendors

· Attend all Board meetings

· Create and prepare Meeting Agenda with the Chairman of the Board

· Prepare meeting packets and compile committee reports

· Attend all Executive Committee meetings

· Prepare reports as needed

· Ensure quarterly filings are proper

· Process 1099’s

· Create Contracts as needed for staff

· Maintain rent agreement with Douglas Emmett

 

Accounting

· Create and manage budget to ensure resources are optimized

· Enter and pay bills

· Maintain VCF general checking account

· Maintain Pass Through account

· Make deposits

· Create and process all invoicing

· Obtain and maintain proper liability, event, and property insurance

· Ensure taxes (Federal & State) are processed in a timely fashion

· Work with an accountant to ensure all accounts are in balance

· Process Registry of Charitable Trust documents

· Process Department of Justice filings

· Process Payroll

· Track vacation and sick time

· Ensure quarterly filings are proper

· Process 1099’s

· Create Contracts as needed for staff

· Maintain rent agreement with Douglas Emmett

 

Committees

· Attend all meetings of VCF Regular or ad hoc Committees

· Work with Committee Chairs to develop plans, funding and sponsorship

· Outreach/Social Media Committee

· Food & Wine Tasting Event

· July 4th Fireworks

· Board Development/Board Retreat

· Annual Gala/Golden Horn Dinner

· Finance Committee

· Event Committee

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
