Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced professional with deep expertise in ship control and navigation systems for Amphibious and Combatant ships. The ideal candidate will provide critical training and technical support to fleet operations, ensuring the effective delivery and sustainment of ship control systems and navigation training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ship Control Console Training:
- Deliver Ship Control System Training in coordination with PMS 339 and SCSTC NAV SAGT requirements.
- Conduct shipboard delivery as directed, including In-Briefs, Self-Assessment Groom Checklists, and documented training results.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training materials for Ship Control and Navigation Systems using technical manuals and PMS 339 resources.
- Provide shipboard training to command leadership, ensuring integration into Short/Long range training plans.
- Generate detailed End of Mission reports with lessons learned, assessments, and trend analysis.
- Coordination and Execution:
- Coordinate scheduling and execution efforts with PMS 339 representatives.
- Assist in training and development of assigned Sailors, ensuring continuous improvement.
- System Deficiency Identification:
- Identify deficiencies in Ship Control Systems, interfaces, and Navigation Systems, and recommend actionable solutions.
- Sustained Subject Matter Expert (SME) Support:
- Provide ongoing support between training events, including curriculum updates, communication with system leads, and technical documentation reviews.
- Participate in forums such as CNSF Navigation Councils and Seamanship Wholeness reviews.
- Deliver classroom training instruction during scheduled waterfront training events.
- Offer technical reach-back services for surface ships.
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience operating bridge and ship control systems on Amphibious and Combatant Ships.
- Qualified as a Master Helmsman.
- Experience as a member of shipboard training teams (e.g., Ship Training Team (STT), Combat Systems Training Team (CSTT), Engineering Training Team (ETT)); STT experience preferred.
- Qualified Officer of the Deck (Underway) preferred.
- NEC 805A (or legacy NEC 9502) preferred.
- Specific Assignments:
- At least one tour of duty in one or more of the following roles:
- Afloat Training Group Instructor.
- INSURV Assessor.
- Schoolhouse Instructor.
- At least one tour of duty in one or more of the following roles:
