Lead Academic HR Analyst
Job Description
Responsible for managing all academic and staff personnel actions for the Division of Undergraduate Education, College of Letters & Science.
The Lead Academic Personnel Analyst is responsible for managing the academic personnel process for ladder rank faculty, adjunct, visiting faculty, lecturer SOE appointments, unit 18 lecturer appointments, academic administrator and academic coordinator appointments, TA's, GSR's and reappointments, merits, promotions and accelerations; using UCPath, OPUS Interfolio, and TRS systems to accomplish faculty and academic personnel actions, including summer ninths, summer twelfth payments, stipends, leaves, new hires, and additional compensation requests; oversee the faculty hiring and search process. Develop and utilize QBD/Excel spreadsheets to track faculty salary expenses, reconcile payroll ledgers, and prepare salary and benefit expense reports for the Assistant Dean and Finance Director as needed. Responsible for ASE appointments and payroll, oversee GSR and other academic student employment. Provide high level analytical and policy support to the HR Director and unit directors; this position is also expected to provide a strong foundation to the directors and campus leadership in the formulation of policy and streamlined procedures. Adhere to university policies and procedures in accordance with The CALL, The Academic Personnel Manual, The Memorandum of Understanding and departmental By-laws. Incumbent is to lead in supporting the faculty and departments in administering academic personnel policies in relation to academic appointments, salary administration, labor relations since most of the appointments are unionized, and training. Incumbent is to be highly independent and analytical. In collaboration with the HR Director, incumbent is to make decisions relating to academic personnel in the unit.

Required/Preferred
1. Excellent working knowledge of UCLA academic personnel, payroll and benefits policies and procedures, and ability to provide high level of analytical support to the HR and Finance Director with regard to academic personnel policies.

2. Skill in negotiating, exchanging ideas, information and opinions with department and campus leaders, to formulate departmental policies and procedures, and arrive at decisions, conclusions and solutions.

3. Ability to analyze current personnel practices and make recommendations to the HR Director and Finance Director and campus leadership to standardize and streamline procedures.

4. Ability to lead faculty and other HR/Academic Personnel staff members through changes in current personnel procedures, implement and enforce new policy, clarify questions and provide guidance.

5. Ability to utilize UCPath, TRS, Opus/Interfolio, UC Recruit, and QDB and Cognos reporting systems to properly process academic personnel actions.
